Glass Room in Frimley, Surrey

The customer remit was to provide a cosy area to sit outside even when it’s raining, with protection from the prevailing south westerly wind, while allowing plenty of light through to the patio doors that lead to the kitchen, reduce the current step height down to the patio and all with the least possible maintenance.

A pergola was considered but wouldn’t work as the louvred roof would cut out too much light when closed and requires regular checks to make sure the louvres are free from leaves, twigs and moss. A clear glass roofed veranda with the addition of fixed glass sides and sliding glass front was the optimal solution. A raised insulated deck constructed from composite boards, which are virtually maintenance free, was the best option for the floor area, while the customer would add their own lighting and patio heater at a later date if required.

They were absolutely delighted with the finished Glass Room which was completed in time for the Christmas holidays.
