THE REMIT
This was for a customer near Worthing in West Sussex who wanted to open up their lounge, create a covered tiled patio and allow the outside area to be used more frequently, even on days when the weather wasn’t so good.
THE RESULT & TRANSFORMATION
The rear wall was broken out, a steel RSJ inserted and bi fold doors installed. The veranda is 6m wide x 3m projection and was steel reinforced to span the full distance on just two posts. Due to the single storey extension, there was not adequate height to fix the wall plate, so bespoke steel brackets and a steel cross section were made so as the wall plate could be attached at a suitable height. A splashback was installed to avoid rainwater splashing through from the house roof, underroof blinds were fitted to offer shade and the patio was finished with outdoor porcelain tiles. I’m sure you’ll agree that it was quite a transformation, Bill & Anne were absolutely delighted with the finished job.
THE PROPERTY
A semi detached in Addlestone, Surrey.
THE REMIT
Our objective is to create a small dry area to clean our dog after walks, but also important that the posts are secured to the concrete slab and the rainwater dispersal is to a drain under the deck.
THE RESULT
A dry area with posts neatly cut through the deck and secured to the concrete slab below. Rainwater is dispersed via the integrated gutter and a downpipe enclosed within the left post and connected below deck to existing drainage.
